Transvolt Set to Deploy 100 IPLTech Electric Trucks for UltraTech Cement
e-FAST India is set to mark a major milestone in freight electrification with the deployment of 100 electric trucks through a collaboration among its key industry partners, UltraTech Cement, Transvolt, and IPLTech Electric.
UltraTech Cement, India’s largest cement manufacturer, is advancing sustainable logistics through a new transport service contract. Partnering with Transvolt, the company is deploying 100 electric trucks from IPLTech Electric to transport 75,000 metric tonnes of clinker per month.
The transportation of clinker using these electric trucks in place of fossil-fuel-based trucks is estimated to help reduce transport emissions by 17,000 MT of CO2 annually. These e-trucks mark a significant step in freight electrification, facilitated by the e-FAST India platform.
These electric trucks will cover a 400-km roundtrip between Dhar Cement Works in Madhya Pradesh and Dhule Cement Works in Maharashtra. UltraTech is the first cement company in India to adopt electric trucks at scale for long-haul operations. This initiative builds on a successful pilot program launched in January 2024, where five electric trucks operated along the same route. The pilot also included deployment of the charging infrastructure as well as imparting intensive training to the truck drivers.
Maintaining this momentum, UltraTech plans to expand its fleet to 500 electric trucks by June 2025. The significant benchmark in decarbonizing India's freight sector has been established through the commendable leadership of NITI Aayog and the collaborative efforts of e-FAST partners.
