This report is a collaborative effort by e-FAST India, in partnership with Smart Freight Centre India, developed to advance the understanding of the electric freight landscape in India. 

This publication reflects the collective insights and expertise of key actors across India’s freight ecosystem—including shippers, logistics providers, vehicle manufacturers, charge point operators, financiers, and knowledge partners. Drawing from extensive consultations, national workshops, and sectoral deep-dives, it provides a comprehensive, evidence-backed assessment of India’s e-truck readiness, policy landscape, operational realities, and emerging business models.

With contributions from Smart Freight Centre’s global community and technical input from leading institutions such as WRI India and UC Davis, the report brings together Indian context and international best practices. It outlines actionable strategies for overcoming adoption barriers and presents a practical roadmap for industry stakeholders and policymakers committed to freight electrification.

This study reaffirms e-FAST India’s commitment to building a resilient, low-carbon logistics sector—one that balances economic growth with environmental sustainability—and serves as a critical resource to inform investment decisions, enable policy insights, and catalyze scale in India’s electric truck transition.
