Nayi Soch ki Sawaari: A Co-Creation Workshop

Date:

On July 29, #eFASTIndia, in collaboration with on with Purpose, organized a co-creation workshop titled "Nayi Soch ki Sawaari" to address this critical aspect. The workshop featured a user-journey mapping exercise of the informal trucking community—including small fleet owners, truck drivers, mechanics, and petrol pump owners. This exercise sought to map their experiences and perspectives while examining existing research, policies, outreach platforms, and support mechanisms.

Four critical themes emerged from the workshop:

🛠️ Skilling: Transitioning to ZETs will require skilling, at the regional and local level, for the informal workforce. Potential locations for this training include transport nagars and truck depots, where there is a high density of informal workers.

💸Financing: Additional financial aid will be necessary for the informal sector due to their high risks. Profitable financial models across the value chain are essential to make e-trucks viable for small fleet operators.

🔌Supporting Infrastructure: Enhancing coordination between state and central governments, and among ministries, for energy supply and charging space, is crucial.

🌱 Alternative Decarbonisation Technology: The informal trucking community can often be an afterthought in the development of electric trucks. It is essential to ensure that this community does not remain a blind spot for decarbonization technologies.
