Global Logistics Emissions Council Framework

For Logistics Emissions Accounting and Reporting Version 2.0
- by Suzanne Greene and Alan Lewis
Date: 10 August, 2019

The framework addresses the challenge of comparing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) across different transport modes and suppliers. It standardises the calculation and reporting of logistics GHG emissions in multi-modal supply chains. Aligned with ISO 14083, it serves as the industry's primary guideline and can be implemented by shippers, carriers, and logistics service providers. By providing consistent and standardized emissions data, the framework supports informed business decisions to reduce emissions and track progress towards climate goals. It aligns with initiatives like the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the UN-led Global Green Freight Action Plan, and CDP Reporting, facilitating collaborative efforts in emissions reduction across the logistics industry.
