Event Detail

e-FAST India: Driving Zero Freight Emissions in India

Date:

The side event for the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial on e-FAST India: Driving Zero Freight Emissions held at Goa included three-panel discussions to bring out specific suggestions on the policy, regulatory, and financial frameworks, and ways to foster collaborations for mitigating barriers faced for zero-emission trucks (ZETs) adoption. The panels discussed learnings and challenges from global experiences including California (USA) and the Netherlands and drew parallels on vital levers that can chart the course for ZET adoption in India.

The session also showcased the e-FAST video and launched the e-FAST website for mass awareness about the platform and the criticality of freight decarbonization. The website would serve as a one-stop solution for all freight enthusiasts, working as a knowledge repository for tracking the latest industry developments. Driven by the desire to meet the sustainability goals of businesses and the net zero emission goal of India, 16 prominent LSPs and manufacturing companies belonging to the cement, metal refining, mining, tyres, dairy, FMCG, engineering, and other sectors collectively signaled their demand for 7750 electric trucks by 2030. The demand signaling was a clarion call for all vehicle and battery OEMs and charging infrastructure operators to innovate products that meet the industry requirements and financing institutions to devise frameworks that could aid the adoption of ZETs.
